Day 4 - A Walk up the Valley of the Gods We start our activities today with an easy stroll up the beautiful Kullu Valley. The walk starts in the tourist village of Old Manali and takes us through several traditional villages and apple orchards before arriving at Solang. It’s a fairly easy walk with only a small increase in altitude and will take us around 4 hours. We will come back to Manali by jeep in the afternoon.
Day 5 - Rafting the Beas River/Canyoning We take to the water today with a descent down the mighty Beas River. We drive down the valley for a short while to get to the best part of the river for rapids. The descent will take around three hours and will take in several rapids and gorges. All safety equipment and a full briefing are provided before we enter the rafts and all the guides are chosen on their experience and qualifications. Depending on the time of the year and the level of the river, we may take the option of canoeing instead. We will travel a short distance to a newly opened canyon and spend the day sliding, abseiling and jumping our way down the gorge.
Day 6 - Rock Climbing and Abseiling The Kullu Valley is just starting to become one of the best places in the world to go climbing. There are enormous opportunities for exploration and opening up of the cliffs around here. We will visit one of the local crags that offer a wide range of climbing grades and try our hand at climbing up and abseiling down. One of our guides has developed many of these climbs so his knowledge will make the day much more interesting.
Days 7 + 8 - Trekking the Himalayas We will head off for a two day trek somewhere above the valley now. There are many different treks in the area that are perfect for a short trip and we’ll choose whichever will offer the best views and conditions at the time. The treks in the area can be busy during many times of the year and we’ll use our local knowledge to take you where the crowds don’t roam. The first day will see us climb up and out of the valley, usually camping around 3500m. The next day we will spend most of our time above the snowline and descend to the valley floor in time for a hot bath in the natural hot springs of Vashisht.
Day 9 - Relaxing in the Valley Today we rest and relax after the trek. We’ll visit some of the sights of the Kullu Valley during the day, taking a jeep to see the amazing wooden Naggar Castle and some of the centuries old temples in the surrounding villages.
